HI everyone!! Hope you are all ready to party with me at a great new location this February 4th. It's in the Olney area, I'll call it Rich's Retreat for now. Rich's Retreat is a very nice private home on 6 acres with 4 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths. There are both individual rooms and community play areas as well as a nice big kitchen. Parking is limited as is often the case at private residences so please sign up early and ride with or offer rides to someone else you know who is going if you can. There is a stickie on our fetlife group page for those that want to use the ride share opportunities. This is how our house parties and vetting services work: We charge $20 per person for site and guest list coordination. We provide items like protection, wipes, lube, etc. BUT we do ask if you have particular needs to please bring your own. We ask everyone to pre-pay at thebisexuallife.com which helps firm up the guest list. The location address is given upon receipt of payment. Then we ask you to RSVP separately with the names of who is coming so we know and can identify you when you arrive. (Our payment system only gives the name of who paid and that isn't always the name they use and doesn't include their guests' names.) The house parties are BYOB. We request you bring your own beverages (alcoholic beverages are fine if your of legal) and also something to share with others such as a snack, food, munchies, drink, ice, etc.. This format has been working great and there is always enough snacks and a great variety of food. I love the imagination people use for food items. Thanks to you all so much for making the parties we have had to date so wonderful. This location, Rich's Retreat is located in Olney area and 25 minutes from Baltimore, 20 minutes from the beltway and also from 270 and (This is only about 25 minutes from the old Rockville location.) So Pass the word and let's make this a great new location to party. For now, Bi-Weekly Parties will now be having its parties in private homes throughout the Metropolitan Area (Maryland, DC, Virginia). I will also host parties at my White Plains location in March. I will be on another comedy tour for the month of February. Now Just to quell the rumor mill, I will fill you in on some of the crap that was going which resulted in Bi-Weekly Parties ending its association with The New DC Speakeasy: We like the general location and venue, I mean it is a pretty cool place and it has potential, but the management just wasn't on the up and up with us and that's not a good fit for us. Once we satisfied ourselves that our staff and each guest discovered on the premises could be charged a $500.00 fine due to permitting/U&O violations we decided we could no longer expose ourselves or our guests to that type of risk. In December a notice was on their door stating their Use and Occupancy permit was suspended because they hadn't complied with the handicap requirements. This is a matter of public record. Besides the place was often cold, not enough seating and the dungeon was separated from the other areas in a way where they required us to get dressed to eat or drink, go to the bathroom or even to the back party/play room…well, it was just getting to be too much. Plus they really started nickel and diming our guests to death with day passes and membership fee's. If I host a party at am American Legion or VFW, JCs' etc…would you honestly expect to have to pay for a membership to those organizations just to attend my party? To me this was just a ploy to obbtain MY membership information and use it for themselves. Don't think so? They already were going to use it for a "Bi" party on Feb 4th but they changed their minds. They are now advertising for a host for THEIR "Bi" parties. Just beware. They made us stop the BYOB policy and charged $5 food and beverage fee's against our admission fee's. They used the fact that they sold liquor as a reason yet they have no liquor license nor any permit for food preparation. Thus any concern about a BYOB situation was unfounded. Check their use and occupancy permit and you will not see any mention of liquor or food. They even suggested instituting a coat storage charge on top of all that….well let's just say it wasn't conducive to an equitable relationship in so many ways. For God's sake, I just want to be bi and throw bi parties for my fellow bi-people without all those types of complications, problems, and persecutions. None of the other places we have used ever treated our staff and guests like that. I apologize for having to write about all this, but I know how rumors abound. All we really want to do is party and have fun, meet like minded people and enjoy life as consenting adults without any judgement from others in a safe place. House parties seem the most appropriate solution, although we will always keep options open. See you soon. John , your host tryabiguy@aol.com |
